scholarships rewarding your hard work
ohio christian university would like to commend and reward you for your hard work in high school. our scholarships are awarded upon acceptance and renewed each year as long as you maintain the required gpa and full-time enrollment.
the presidential scholarship is $8,000 per year and is awarded to students with a 28 act or higher or a 3.75-4.0 college gpa. students must maintain a 3.75 gpa for the presidential scholarship to be renewed each year.
the provost’s scholarship is $5,000 per year and is awarded to students with a 23-27 act or a 3.5-3.74 college gpa. students must maintain a 3.5 gpa for the provost’s scholarship to be renewed each year.
the merit scholarship is $3,000 per year and is awarded to students with a 20-22 act or a 3.25-3.49 college gpa. students must maintain a 3.25 gpa for the merit scholarship to be renewed each year.
students who have an 18-19 act score and a 3.5 or higher high school gpa, or a 3.0-3.24 college gpa, are awarded a minimum of $2,000 per year. students who have an 18-19 act score and a 3.0-3.49 high school gpa, or a 2.75-2.99 college gpa, are awarded $1,000 per year.
the trailblazer family award is $500 per year and is granted to all siblings who attend ocu's residential undergraduate program at the same time and are both classified as dependent students, or granted to a student who is classified as a dependent of an ocu alum.
the trailblazer ministry award is $500 per year and is awarded to students who are church of christ in christian union church members, a missionary child or a pastor's child. documentation required.
the military discount is $1,000 per year and is awarded to military members or students who are dependents of military members or veterans. dependent students must be 23 years old or younger. documentation required.
the good neighbor quality student award is $500 per year and is awarded to students who have graduated from a high school in one of the following counties: pickaway, ross, fairfield, fayette, pike, hocking, madison franklin or licking. students who attend and graduate from a christian school or homeschool are also eligible.
the transfer student scholarship is $2,000 per year and is awarded to students who are transferring to ocu from another college or university. students must maintain a 3.0 gpa for the transfer student scholarship to be renewed each year.
the international student scholarship is $3,000 per year and is awarded to students who reside full-time in a country other than the united states. students must maintain a 3.0 gpa for the international student scholarship to be renewed each year.
note: receiving the international student scholarship will make you ineligible to receive domestic and non-academic scholarships from ocu. please speak to an admissions counselor for further details or clarification.
the performing arts scholarship is up to $4,000 per year and is awarded to students joining choir, band, orchestra and/or theatre. this scholarship is audition-based and up to the program director's discretion. email firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an audition.
the ocu service scholarship is up to $3000 per year and is awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional leadership and service.
Application & Due Dates
all applicants must: (1) fill out the ocu service scholarship application and submit the required elements; and, (2) file an application with ohio christian university. only those who have submitted both applications will be considered to have a full file and will be eligible for the scholarship. the ocu service scholarship is only available for new, incoming students who are going through the admissions process.
the early admit scholarship is $2,000 per year and is awarded to continuing trailblazer academy students with an acceptable act/sat/clt score and who have completed 6 or more dual enrollment credit hours with a 3.0+ gpa.
although scholarships are awarded primarily based on the student's act score (or sat equivalent), each student will be evaluated holistically considering other academic achievements such as gpa and affiliations including being a pastor's or missionary's dependent, alumni's dependent or churches of christ in christian union member.
grants based on need and/or achievement.
grants are best described as “free money”. nothing needs to be paid back to the institution or individual who offers the grant. grants may be figured into an award package based on a student’s need and/or past academic achievement.
the pell grant is a federal grant provided to every part-time or full-time student who shows exceptional financial need. this is granted to full-time or part-time students.
the federal supplemental opportunity grant (fseog) is intended to supplement the pell grant. it is provided by the federal government to eligible full-time students based on need.
the ohio college opportunity grant is a need based grant for some pell grant recipients who are ohio residents. this is granted to full-time or part-time students.
the state matching grant is a maximum of $3,000 per year and available to students residing in states outside of ohio. ocu will match state academic aid through this grant, based on what the student would be eligible to receive should they have remained in their home state. the student is able to receive the exact amount, up to $3,000, for which they would be eligible in their home state. the student must maintain an annual 2.0 cumulative gpa to retain the grant each year.

the church matching grant allows the church of which the student is a member, to help in the education of its students. ohio christian university will match up to $500.00 each semester to be applied directly to the student's account.
financial aid awarding
unfunded aid awarded is not to exceed 100% of the student’s tuition costs.
